Neo Cafe is the dream of owner Khupsamlian “Sam” Khaute. Sam came to the United States from Northeastern India. He and his wife met while traveling and teaching English in Vietnam. When Sam first moved to the US, his first job was in a small coffee shop near downtown Portland. He learned the ins and outs of the coffee trade each day, working his way up through the company and learning as much as he could. Neo Cafe combines Sam’s coffee expertise with his love of chai. “It has always been special to me,” Khaute says, “It is a cozy drink, you get that warmth from the spices.” Neo Cafe brews their own chai called Desi Chai.
